Chernovsti

When I arrived in Chernovsti --- a city of 300,000 people with a major University --- I was shocked to find that water and electricity were only available at predesignated times of the week. Yet in spite of the physical hardships, Jewish culture is thriving, as you can see from the pictures. The Hanukkah show I saw was nothing short of amazing.

Checking into the hotel, we found there was no electricity or running water at the time. We checked in by candle-light. A remant of bygone days, hotel rooms still list detailed contents.
